As the rotor turns, it agitates the cooling liquid, while dimpled covers stir it further and carry the heat out to the surrounding environment.

Technical Backgrounder

The Blu Ocean Kool™ Approach

In HVLS systems, the fan blade is visible, but the reliability story lives inside the motor. Conventional geared or air-cooled motor systems add weight, complexity, and heat-related stress in continuous industrial use. Blu Ocean Kool™ is built around a brushless, gearless permanent-magnet direct-drive motor with a liquid-cooling architecture intended to manage that heat directly.

Key elements of the architecture, as described in the patent:

1.  Stationary-axle direct drive — the stator is attached directly to a stationary axle and the rotor rotates around it, eliminating belts, pulleys, gearboxes, and the transmission losses they introduce.

2.  Liquid-filled cavity — the motor housing is filled with a high-temperature, electrically insulating silicon-based cooling liquid that draws heat directly from the windings.

3.  Rotor-agitated cooling — as the rotor turns, it stirs the surrounding liquid, continuously moving heat away from the stator.

4.  Dimpled covers — a pair of covers enclose the stator, each with a dimpled inner surface that further stirs the liquid and transfers accumulated heat out to the surrounding environment.

5.  Angled cable exit — cables leave through an angled hole in the stationary axle, increasing the distance between liquid and cable to prevent capillary leakage to the outside.

6.  Multi-stage sealing — sealants around the cable hole, between stator and rotor, and between rotor parts (O-rings, bearing seals, molded circlips) keep the liquid contained.

7.  Pressure-equalizing vent — a protective vent releases internal pressure to the environment during thermal expansion of the liquid and air, protecting the seals.

8.  Controlled fill level — the liquid is held below the axle and above a minimum cooling threshold, with the remaining space optionally near-vacuum to reduce stress on the seals.
